Learn the latest methods, principles, and practices in teaching Very Young Learners (aged between 3 and 6) and Young Learners (aged between 7 and 12), and understand how to plan your lessons using the latest coursebooks. This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to potentially target learners in upper age groups as well.

 

In this course you will learn:

  • about different componants of the lesson plan
  • how to craft an interactive lesson plan
  • how to give instructions and ask Instruction Checking Questions
  • how to use songs, stories, projects and crafts to teach and practise different skills
  • how to assess (Very) Young Learners
  • when and how to address mistakes and errors
  • how to give constructive feedback
  • how to analyze and teach different English coursebooks
  • how to interact with parents of (Very) Young Learners

 

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • write proper and engaging lesson plans for teaching integrated language skills
  • give effective instructions and check students’ understanding
  • address and correct students’ mistakes appropriately
  • analyze different English coursebooks to choose variety of fun activities
  • have better communication skills with learners and their parents
  • use effective techniques for giving feedback to (Very) Young Learners’ parents

 

Divided into eight modules, this foundation level course is scheduled as follows:

  • Week 1: Planning Lessons for YLs – Giving & Checking Instructions
  • Week 2: Using Songs and Stories – Using Crafts and Projects
  • Week 3: Assessing YLs – Error Correction & Giving Feedback
  • Week 4: Teaching YLs Coursebooks – Interacting with Parents of YLs
