Learn the best practices for teaching language skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing) and sub-skills (Vocabulary, Grammar, and Pronunciation) to Very Young Learners (aged between 3 and 6) and Young Learners (aged between 7 and 12) and understand how to teach them efficiently. This course will equip you with the knowledge and skills to potentially target learners in upper age groups as well

 

In this course you will learn:

  • how to establish rapport with (Very) Young Learners
  • how to teach core competencies: listening, speaking, reading, and writing
  • how to teach sub-skills: grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation
  • how to give instructions to complete tasks effectively
  • how to use a multi-sensory approach in teaching English to (Very) Young Learners

 

Upon completion of the course you will be able to:

  • develop rapport with (Very) Young Learners
  • teach language skills and sub-skills through a multi-sensory approach
  • teach (Very) Young Learners interactively and efficiently
  • make learning an enjoyable experience for all learners with different abilities

 

Divided into eight modules, this foundation level course is scheduled as follows:

  • Week 1: Getting to Know YLs – Teaching through Listening
  • Week 2: Teaching Speaking for Interaction – Teaching Pronunciation
  • Week 3: Intensive & Extensive Reading for YLs – How to Teach Vocabulary to YLs
  • Week 4: How to Teach Writing to YLs – Grammar for YLs
